Because of these characteristics, planetary gearboxes are mostly mounted on stepper motors and servo motors to reduce speed, lift torque, and match inertia.

Several concepts about planetary gearboxes:
Series: The number of sets of planetary gears. Because a set of star gears can not meet the larger transmission ratio, sometimes need 2 or 3 sets to meet the requirements of the support of larger transmission ratio. By increasing the number of star gears, the length of the Stage 2 or 3 gearbox will increase and efficiency will decrease.
Return gap: fixed the output, the input is clockwise and counterclockwise direction rotation, so that the input to produce rated torque of -2% torque, the gearbox input has a small angle displacement, this angle displacement is the return gap.
